2008 Turner Family Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa

The grapes are from the Nord Vineyards in Napa Valley, and the wine is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Merlot. The bouquet is wonderful with a hint of new oak, the color a deep garnet and the tannins are soft enough so the wine can be enjoyed with food now. The grapes were picked October 6th, 2008, and the wine allowed to go through a natural yeast fermentation. The wine was pressed into 25% new Taransaud French oak barrels and the balance 1 year old French oak. It went thorough ML fermentation and was bottled Nov. 19th, 2009.

2008 Cabernet Franc, Napa

This has become my premiere red wine each year, with tiny production from Stoney Springs Vineyard north of St. Helena. The bouquet has a lovely floral component and the color a deep garnet. The flavors are beautiful and integrated with moderate French oak, and the wine will become even more elegant with an additional year of bottle age. The grapes were picked Sept. 7th , 2008, and after fermentation, the wine was placed in 50% new French oak, where it went through ML fermentation. The wine was bottled Nov. 9th, 2009.

2008 Chardonnay

This wine is more of a California-style Chardonnay than last year's version. It has a golden color and the nose has a green apple / pear character, with a full, round feel in the mouth. There are mild, integrated oak flavors. The grapes were whole - cluster pressed and a natural yeast fermentation occurred in stainless steel . After ML fermentation the wine was transferred to 25% new Francois Freres French oak barrels, with the remaining barrels 1 or 2 years old. The wine was bottled in June, 2009, with Stelvin screw caps rather than corks to ensure freshness and create a more sustainable product.

2007 Turner Family Red Table Wine

A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon from Andy Beckstoffer's George III vineyard in Rutherford and 10% Cabernet Franc from Stoney Springs vineyard in St. Helena. The wine was aged 18 months in 1 year old French oak barrels, for moderate oak flavors. The nose is expansive, bright and lovely with a hint of soft spice, while the color is rich, dark ruby. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings good tannins and texture to the flavors and the Cab Franc some spice and black pepper. The wine has a warm, quaffable character and is wonderful with grilled salmon, roast chicken or pork tenderloin as well as other meats. 102 cases were bottled in June, 2009, and the wine will continue to improve with age over the next few years. Enjoy !
